Native XML Web Services ---- WCF

I read about Native XML Web Services in SQL Server - sounds great. But now its deprecated. Is this deprecated because we are moving from Web Services to WCF or because microsoft did not find this feature useful?
Is there anything like "Native XML WCF in SQL Server"?
