Windows Vista Vista will not boot - not even in Safe Mode

I have been dual booting Windows Vista and Windows XP for several months now
after having built a custom computer. I have been running XP without any
problems on one hard drive, and I am currently writing this question on it.

Last Friday, I booted up into Vista and it wouldn't start unless I
registered it, as I had kept putting it off (I'm a bit of a procrastinator).
Anyway, I registered it "successfully", yet in the bottom of the screen it
still said that my copy was not genuine. I figured it was just a bug, so I
powered off and went about my day.

Today, when I tried booting into Vista, after loading all of the drivers, my
computer hangs at a black screen. After unsuccessfully trying to boot
normally, I tried booting into safe mode. After loading all of the drivers,
it rebooted my computer.

What is going on here? Why can I not boot into Vista? Does it have something
to doing with my copy not being "genuine"? If so, how do I fix this problem?

Restoring Vista functionality once in reduced functionality mode
