Changed Win 2k3 server to domain controller and can't RDP in ....

Hi,

I appreciate this is a fairly newbie question, but I have made a win 2k3
server a domain controller, to run the inbuilt radius server.

However, I can no longer rdp into the server - from its static ip 195.38.3X.XX
I can access it from my local network from its static (local) ip 192.168.2.179
Via remote desktop

If I do netstat -a, I see it is listening on all TCP ports you would expect
(I have a mail server running and can connect to that)

However it is also a game server running Half-Life and that is not accessible.

When I look at the output of netstat -a, I can see that all TCP ports are
noted as either listening or established, but every UDP port is noted as -*-

So it does not seem to be listening on udp ports. Is there something in
active directory I need to set, or what am I missing please?

Apologies for a newbie question but you have to start somewhere. What I
wanted to do was run the inbuilt radius server in win 2k3 but I have
apparently lost a lot of my server functionality.

HELP!!! Please....

What is the error message that you get when you try to connect?

Re: Changed Win 2k3 server to domain controller and can't RDP in .

Re: Changed Win 2k3 server to domain controller and can't RDP in .

I can RDP in from the same network as the server - from 192.168.2.100 for
instance, to 192.168.2.179.

However (and my routing is right, the only thing that has changed is the
server has become a domain controller - if I try accessing it at its external
IP 195.38.81.XX I get the message below..

I get the message 'this computer can't connect to the remote computer' try
connecting again. If the probelem persists try cvontascting your network
administrator (ME!!)'

It must be something to do with domains etc - I can log in using the same
network, but not from anything on an external IP...

THANKS for replying so fast ...

DOH!!

I have figured it out...

It is the fault of my screwy routing!
Trying to run a game server, a remote desktop and a radius server at the
same time..

All on the same IP but with different ports..
Should be possible, but I can live with two out of the three at any one time.
I only need remote access when I am away from office, and at that time would
not need (say) the game server.

MEA CULPA MAXIMA................
