Just built TS2k3 with assistance from a friend and Vera's excellent
website. All I need to do now is fine tune the program icons on the
desktop. I need to move some of the icons to a folder on the desktop
to 'hide' them so users can differentiate between older programs and
newer programs (older tax programs with 'hidden' icons). I can create
the folder on the desktop, and copy the icons into the folder (instead
of moving ... as a test), but when the users try to open the folder
with the copied icons, they get a message saying that current policies
prevent this operation. I need to modify permissions on the desktop
folder so that users can access the copied icons.
Please Help!

Re: moving desktop icons

Which desktop folder are we talking about? The All Users desktop
folder, or the Administrator's private desktop folder, or ...?
And did you use folder redirection for the normal users' desktop
folder?

The desktop is the "all users". I added a folder to the desktop in
'all users' and copied the icons there. The users can see the new
folder, but when they double click on the new folder, a message pops
up saying that restrictions on the server prevent this action. How can
I grant the users permissions to the folder to open it and launch the
programs within? I tried granting all 'remote users' permissions to
the folder, but it didn't work.
Thanks! (Your website is awesome Vera... answered lots of questions I
had about TS).

oh, and no, I have not config'ed folder redirection yet.

Re: moving desktop icons

So they can't even open the folder, because of a policy
restriction?
I'd download and install the GPMC (Group Policy Management
Console), if you haven't already done that, run Resultant Set of
Policies to get a list of all policies applied to the users, and
then create a report with all configured settings in those
policies. Must be some setting there. If it was just NTFS
permissions, they would get an "Access denied" error.
