Re: Vista's De-Activation = CYBERTERRORISM ?!

Skybuck -
We'd appreciate it if you didn't cross post to the 64bit newgroup. We
try to stick to subjects exclusively 64bit, and leave vista.general for
those things that affect all versions. Thank you for your understanding and
patience - we do appreciate it.

Re: Vista's De-Activation = CYBERTERRORISM ?!

You have things reversed.

64 bit is now, and the future.

32 bit was the past and is near extinction.

Bye,
Skybuck.

Re: Vista's De-Activation = CYBERTERRORISM ?!

Oh, I agree - I've been running almost exclusively 64-bit for 2 1/2 years
now, after all. But 32-bit isn't quite extinct, yet. Just having a bit of a
low birth rate problem. ;)

Re: Vista's De-Activation = CYBERTERRORISM ?!

I assume you mean that 64-bit has the low birth rate problem. What ever
happened to the requirement you once mentioned that Microsoft was going to
require that products be both 32 and 64-bit compatible before they received
the Vista blessing. I see lots of hardware and some software with the Vista
symbol with only 32-bit compatibility. Obviously there is now no 64-bit
requirement. It is annoying to have to drill down to some obscure page on a
product and find an * with small print that says it won't work on 64-bit or
has no 64-bit drivers.

Re: Vista's De-Activation = CYBERTERRORISM ?!

Re: Vista's De-Activation = CYBERTERRORISM ?!

No, actually I meant that new "32-bit only" machines are getting harder and
harder to find. That is, 32-bit only hardware. Machines with 32-bit OS's on
64-bit capable hardware are still the norm. But I don't think that will
last. This release coming early next year of Windows Server 2008 will be the
last Server version that is available in 32-bit. (And very few folks in the
server world will be running 32-bit Server 2k8, I strongly suspect, for
reasons of RAM support if nothing else.)
