Its always a pleasure to get the chance to chat with http://bracha.org" target="_blank Gilad Bracha . So, whenever we can, we do. Weve had http://channel9.msdn.com/Tags/gilad+bracha" target="_blank Gilad on C9 quite a few times over the years and the conversations are always enlightening and educational . Recently, Gilad joined Google and is now working on the http://www.dartlang.org/" target="_blank Dart programming language with long-time colleague (and former co-worker) Lars Bak .
Of course we had to ask Gilad about Dart (just the technical stuff, though - like Darts type system, concurrency model(actor-based "isolates"), future etc...). Of course, Dart has to compile to JavaScript. So how did this requirement impact Darts design? Certainly it did, right?
We also get an update on the status of Gilads very own http://newspeaklanguage.org/" target="_blank Newspeak language . Whats going on with Newspeak now that he works on Dart full time?
Thanks for coming on C9, Gilad! Always a pleasure.
Recently, Channel 9 was invited to attend the great http://www.splashcon.org/2011/" target="_blank SPLASH conference . What is SPLASH? Systems, Programming, Languages and Applications: Software for Humanity . SPLASH is an annual conference that embraces all aspects of software construction and delivery, and that joins all factions of programming technologies. Since 2010 SPLASH is the umbrella for OOPSLA and Onward! [source=splashcon.org]
A big thanks to the SPLASH event organizers for inviting me and my camera to engage some key computer scientists and engineers in geeky, fun conversation! SPLASH is a great event! I learned a ton and met many amazing computer scientists and students. <img src="http://m.webtrends.com/dcs1wotjh10000w0irc493s0e_6x1g/njs.gif?dcssip=channel9.msdn.com&dcsuri=http://channel9.msdn.com/Feeds/RSS&WT.dl=0&WT.entryid=Entry:RSSView:81dcddaebb994adcb39c9f8e01297a13
