Hello,

I am using Remote Desktops to connect to some of our servers. When i choose
to log one off to log in again either under a new user or because of a change
of password it often reboots the Server. I am certain that I have not chosen
to Shut Down and this has now happened on a number of occasions. I was
wondering if this was a known issue.

If you need any more information just ask.

Thanks

Carl

Re: Remote Desktop Rebooting Issue

Which OS and SP are you running?
Sounds like the server crashes when you logoff.
Have you checked the EventLog on the server for any messages
related to the restart?
Also configure your server to *not* automatically reboot when a
critical error occurs. That will give you a BSOD with a STOP error
code if it really crashes. Chances are that it will be a STOP 0xab
error code.
If so, and assuming that you run 2003 SP1 or SP2, there are a
number of hotfixes for this STOP error (but verify first that this
really is happening to your server!):

928942 - Error message when you log off a Terminal Services session
on Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server with Service Pack 1 or with
Service Pack 2: "Stop 0x000000AB"
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=928942

925919 - Stop error message when a client computer logs off from a
Terminal Services session on a server that is running Windows
Server 2003 with SP1 or with SP2: "Stop 0x000000AB
(SESSION_HAS_VALID_POOL_ON_EXIT)"
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=925919

931282 - Stop error message when a client computer logs off from a
Terminal Services session on a server that is running Windows
Server 2003 with SP1 or with SP2: "Stop 0x000000AB
(SESSION_HAS_VALID_POOL_ON_EXIT)"
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=931282

939442 - Stop error message when a client logs off from a Terminal
Services session on a Windows Server 2003-based terminal server:
"Stop 0x000000ab"
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=939442
