bumming in barbados

i just had laptop stolen. used laptop to pay bills, banking, etc.. No
passwords were stored in computer , but can anyone acquire them from
laptop????

Assume yes and change all your important passwords.

In general, unless you stored the passwords in some fashion then in most
cases the answer is no, but it's far better to be safe then sorry.

Hi,

Assume that they can. You need to get in touch with your bank IMMEDIATELY to
put a stop to your account, because until you do you will be liable for any
fraudulent transactions on it. Your bank should tell you what to do next -
probably close the account and transfer the balance into a new one. If you
pay anything automatically out of your account, the bank should be able to
sort this out for you as well, but if not then it is your responsibility to
do so.

They can very easily recover your password from using your web browser. (It
has the "remember me at logon" function that some overlook for convenience)

All they need do is open up your browser, look at your Internet
history/favorites and find sites where you login (trial and error) and then
use one of the many free password revealer programs.

There are many on the market that reveal the password text hidden behind
asterisks ********.

Notify your financial institutions immediately and change your passwords on
all accounts.
