According to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb280608(v=vs.85).aspx" target="_blank
this article, to clone a secondaryBuffer you need to disable the EffectCaps.
" <span style="color:#2a2a2a; font-family:Segoe UI,Lucida Grande,Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:12px; font-style:normal; font-variant:normal; font-weight:normal; letter-spacing:normal; line-height:18px; orphans:2; text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; widows:2; word-spacing:0px; display:inline!important; float:none Initially,
the duplicate buffer will have the same parameters as the original buffer. However, the application can change the parameters of each buffer independently, and each can be played or stopped without affecting the other."
