ive had a whole bunch of issues with vista, some i need help with and i
cant solve myself.. ive been searching forums all week!!

first with my sound card (solved that one recently, just had to look
for and update the driver, but i couldnt use the installation CD which
had certain programs that are incompatible with vista)

second with my Maxtor One Touch III external (which still isnt working
on my computer no matter how many times i re-install the drivers and
software, yet it works fine on my buddies computer) everytime i turn on
the maxtor drive i get the "maxtor easymanage has stopped working"
popup, i dont know why its not working on my computer but its fine on
his (also vista) my WD My Book is running fine (though a tad bit slower
than normally since i installed vista) i used to get a "service module
working and was closed" popup when turning the maxtor drive on.

now i get this strange popup as everytime i start my computer up after
i enter my password to logon: it prompts me to make a choice on this:

User Account Control
Windows needs your permission to continue
If you started this action then continue.

Change Computer Settings (mainly the "name" of the computer)

*how do i get that to stop popping up every time i startup??*
and if anyone can help me with my hard drive that'd be great too ;)

to counteract my computer being slower, i think im going to upgrade to
2GB of ram really soon, and i need a better graphics card for vista as
i can't run Aero right now. im not even sure if my computer can update
the graphics card in order to run aero (i have a dell optiplex gx280).

Re: help w/ vista please!

I can confirm, I've got this problem too. I'm beginning to think it's
something to do with a new security push cause the external drive used to
work fine!

RE: help w/ vista please!

I have a simular problem to this, and i need help!

When i run a program somtimes it wont even load it just says "so and so"
program as stopped working windows is trying to find a solution. Whats all
that about?
On other occasions it will run and when i try to do anything it will pop up
saying "so and so" as stopped working "yeah yeah" windows is trying to find a
solution. WHY?

Also with the internet, when i close the screen it says are you sure you
wish to close all tabs so i click yes, and then again it pops up saying
"internet explorer as stopped working, explorer will now close" and then
interenet explorer will now restart and then it automaticly restart!

I no with some programs you to go in to properties and change the
compatibility to XP or whatever is required to make the software run, But its
a p**s take.

Please help before my laptop goes threw the window.
