I am not new to XML but I have never seen how to refer to an attribute or an element of an element. For example, in the following ...
<person sex="female <br/>
<firstname>Anna</firstname><br/>
<lastname>Smith</lastname><br/>
< /person>
... how would you refer to the attribute sex and distinguish it from sex which might also occur as an attribute or element of the hobbies element? Im thinking it might be something like person/sex or person-sex or something else shorter than "the
sex attribute (or element) of the person element (of the fulltime element of the employees element of the partsdivision element of the corporate element)".
If not officially recognized maybe there is at least something widely used.
Thanks, Bob
