RDC 6.0 to W2K3 Server Slow (compared to 5.2)

I have an application that worked fine in 5.2 RDP sessions but is slow in
6.0(sort of)

If I start the application in a RDP session (6.0 client), characters typed
are slow to show up on the screen (ie characters show up in groups or 3-5 at
a time, not smoothly one at a time as they are typed)

However, if I disconnect the RDP session (leaving the app running) and then
reconnect to the RDP session, typed characters show up as they are typed (no
slowness). If I close the application and restart it, the slow typing
response comes back (until I disconnect/reconnect the session)

With the 5.2 Client there is no slowness at all.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior before?

Note: The app doesn't put characters on the screen in a "normal" fashion. I
think it blits "pictures" of the characters to the screen. (Like typing text
into a painting program)

Are you running both the 5.2 and the 6.0 rdp client from the same
client computer? Or are you running 5.2 on XP and 6.0 on Vista?

Re: RDC 6.0 to W2K3 Server Slow (compared to 5.2)

I'm running both versions on XP Pro SP2.

Re: RDC 6.0 to W2K3 Server Slow (compared to 5.2)

Mm, then I've no idea what causes the delay.
I'd go back to the 5.2 rdp client (you can uninstall the 6.0
client, it will be listed as Windows Update KB925876 in Add/Remove
programs).
