Are Terminal Service Cals included with Windows 2000 Server?

I had windows 2000 server installed and have not had to do a reinstall since
i originally bought it in 2001.

Recently I had to do a reinstall of the OS and I ran into a problem with
Terminal Service Cals. I am running terminal service in Application mode
(Which is the way i was running it before) but this time it is not giving me
the 5 cals I had before.

If memory serves me (Which it rarely does) I just enrolled last time online
using the WWW method and I did not have to enter any additional information
other than serial that is stuck on the side of my server.

I purchased my server from Dell if that means anything

Re: Are Terminal Service Cals included with Windows 2000 Server?

When you buy a server + Windows OS, they often come with 5 server
CALs, but never (as far as I know) with Terminal Server CALs
included in the package.
Your best bet is to dig up your purchase agreement with Dell to see
if there is any mentioning of a license pack there, so that you at
least have the paperwork for your server CALs. You don't actually
have to install them, just be able to show that you run legally.

If the purchase agreement shows that you actually bought 5 TS CALs
as well, together with the server, then it will mention a TS CAL
license pack number. If that's the case, you can call the Microsoft
Clearinghouse to get your TS CALs back.

It is possible that the WWW method that you remember was when you
got free transition TS CALs for your XP workstations. In that case,
you have had to enter 5 serial numbers for 5 XP clients.
If you didn't wrote down the number for the license pack that you
received over the web, there isn't much that you can do now, since
the transition license offer has been closed months ago.
