We have a service that has been failing on a periodic basis, specifically when it loses contact with our Oracle db:

Event Type:<span style="white-space:pre Error
Event Source:<span style="white-space:pre xxx
Event Category:<span style="white-space:pre None
Event ID:<span style="white-space:pre 0
Date:<span style="white-space:pre 11/6/2012
Time:<span style="white-space:pre 8:58:38 AM
User:<span style="white-space:pre N/A
Computer:<span style="white-space:pre PPD-XP-DEV
Description:
Stopping Service due to error ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I have the service settings to restart the service on first, second and subsequent failures in the recovery tab, however it did not restart the service.
Could this be because the startup was set to manual?
Thanks

Doug
