Hi,

In an attempt to add WinRAR context menu items to .gadget files (to make
extracting gadgets easier) I messed up the default association. I am not able
to install any new gadgets now. Could someone help by doing either of the
following:

Exporting the file association from their registry and paste it in a reply, or

Do the above +plus+ add in what would be needed to include the WinRAR
context menu items. Obviously, this one would be preffered, but either would
be a GREAT help!

Thanks in advance,
Ron

RE: .gadget file association help

imtcb,
Try this (I have not tested it myself).
Right click on any .gadget file and choose "Open With".
If the "Open With" option is not present then use Shift, Right-Click.
Click on "Choose Default Program"
If Windows Sidebar is present as an option, choose it as default.
If it is not present, choose "Browse" and go to Program Files\Windows
Sidebar and choose Sidebar.exe
Menues can be a little different because I am translating my menues from
Spanish into English.

RE: .gadget file association help

I should have mentioned that I have tried this already. This is actually the
default action when I right click it "Open With...". When I do this, it only
brings the sidebar into focus, without installing the new gadget. When I try
to open it again it just asks me to define the default application again.

Thank you for the reply and help though, I do appreciate it.
