1) I have never "posted to a blog" unless did w/o knowing it
2) Everyone has different skill sets & mine are "kindergarten level"
3) I dont know my way around the sites or blogs
4) I have a BSME degree & have taken 3 of 10 MSCS courses LONG TIME ago.
Ok, I am an amateur, I wrote 2 applications in mid 1990s, one was a regular calculator with some of the more difficult buttons other than addition. I had trouble with the factorial algorithm. I wrote another MasterMind Game and the scoring of
each row, if you are familiar with the game, is rock solid and I wrote the scoring algorithm on Puddle jump flight on US Air 35 minute ride to Pittsburgh back in mid 90s. I am a smart dumb person? I wish I had gone computers from age 13 ALL
THE WAY but it is always easy to "I should of, could of, would be"

I am in the "stupid question" category but everyone is equal right? I have installed Win 8 Pro............I had bought VS2010 Professional to use VC++. In mid 1990s one just bought VC++ Professional
<span style="text-decoration:underline alone.
I learned C on my own starting with C for Dummies and read likely 15 different books front to back, got past C++, and read about VC++ & was able to write bit of VC++ Rev 4, then I also upgraded to Rev 5............is it true VC++ has reached
"rev 11" now? I lost my calculator application in one of my operating system upgrades but have managed to keep Mastermind intact and BUILT no errors in VS2010 VC++ on Win 8 Pro..............................now it needs changes as sounds do not
play, many adjustments need to be done.
It still has old fashioned "Help File" which I found difficult to write and connect in 90s, it had its separate compiler, etc. I have always loved using the MS DVD/CDs that were sent out for sale example: "How To Master VC++ 4" or "Master VC++ 5 MFC"................they
had examples, started slow, taught how to use the VC ++ Dev Studio and the language at same time.....but they no longer sell such PERFECT things.

I want to know how one learns now as was told "no more CD/DVDs, just attending classes at $4000 a week roughly" Bouncing around TechNet/MSDN I have found very difficult and I want to not be an expert, but know how to use the Developer Studio
Basics, VC++ oriented hopefully. I remember some but very little. I understand all my source code........can anyone give me some guidance as to how or where you can get " THE " book, or
there is a DVD called "blank" that is excellent?
I have a Grandson now and would love to pass on this game to him as he is 3, to show him "Grandpa knew computers a little bit and this game is fun" I am really struggling just debugging "run to cursor", it wants me to save a file and or define a "test"
in VS2010 and I have not slightest idea how to do the new way, wish they "kept it simple stupid".

I see the posts, the skill set of all others here and realize my place, someone has to be smartest/1st, someone has to be dumbest/last, I am not proud, just want some help. Anyone guide me to something does not cost $4000, does not require bouncing
around TechNet or MSDN to find one page at a time of a 750 page textbook explaining VS2010 Dev Studio in general and even better just VS VC++ Pro is what I am looking for.
If I find it, who knows, maybe I have enough in me yet for 1-2 more applications as what is it one leaves behind that anyone remembers or cares about besides money to remember "the person"................no one even keeps pictures as time passes..............

Thank you if you read this far ,
