We have a long-working W2K Terminal Server with 9 activated licenses.
Unfortunately I cannot locate the original purchase paperwork from around
2003. Now a dept is needing 3 more connections.
Within the last few days this W2K Terminal Server was joined to our 2003
domain, and is no longer a Licensing Server. I suppose that means it is
operating in temp mode, and the TS licenses will expire in 90 days. Not sure
if the 9 licenses are per device or per user, suspect per user.
Couple questions: if I install TS Licensing on our 2003 domain controller,
will I be unable to re-active the 9 TS 2000 licenses without the original
paperwork?
If on the other hand I un-join the W2K Terminal Server from our domain, will
it revert to being a TS Licensing Server in workgroup mode and therefore
still have the activated 9 licenses? And could I then purchase three more
2003 TS CALs and use Internet activation to add these on the W2K Terminal
Server, seeing as how 2003 CALs are the only kind offered by our vendor to my
knowledge?
Thanks for any help! Dennis
