Does anyone know if there is an official way of changing the background image
of the logon screen in vista. I know you can use a resource hacker to amend
the imageres.dll file but its a protected file and is most likely prone to be
overwritten by windows file protection or future service packs etc.

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks ...

Mark

Hi Mark,

This tutorial will show you how to easily change the Logon screen to
whatever image you want.

My only question is WHY would anyone want to? When I boot I usually
leave the room and come back in a couple minutes. Only true blue
fanboys would sit and stare at their monitor watching Vista boot.

Good God, get a life people!

ROTFLMAO!

Re: Changing background image of windows logon screen

For me, it boots so quickly and I don't actually sit down and look at my log
on screen either. But for those with slow PCs, its probably a little
entertainment. Its their PC anyway, so they should have the priviledge
anyway they want, just as long as it does not compromise the PCs performance
or affect its stability.

Re: Changing background image of windows logon screen

Does this still work if the machine is joined to a domain?

Yes Mark, it should work just fine. You will only be modifying one
nonrelated system file on your computer.
