Hi

I have an ibm thinkpad x23, and shut it down about an hour ago. When I
went to
reboot , all the lights come on then they go off and only the light
with the z in a circle stays on. The screen stays blank and the hard
drive spins. Could I have deleated the bios when I added memory
(shocked the motherboard?)

Thanks for any help!

Unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery. Remove the RAM you just added.
Now, press and hold the power switch for one minute. Plug the AC adapter
back in. Does it start?

If so, shut down, remove the adapter (be sure the battery is not in) and
put the new memory back in. Try powering on again.

More details would be helpful.

Re: wont boot, did I zap the bios?

Hi

Heres what happened (btw, that didnt work) I added the memory, started
it, and it started beeping (bad memory, it was old) so I removed it.
It then would not start and only the hd spins and the fan blows.

Thanks!
