Dear All,

We are planning to commission a new terminal server for our domain users who
are moving to a new location.I have't got any previous experience of
installing Terminal server and licensing.

Scenarion would be like this:

Domain Users : 35(New Location)
Terminal Server : HQrs.

I need some light about how we have to deploy our applications using ADSL
broadband, how many Terminal server license we need and how many CALs we
needed and rough idea about the pricing for Server license and CALs for 35
Usres.

thanks in advance,

Re: Terminal Server Client Access Licensing(CALs)

I would recommend going to BrianMadden.com and downloading his Windows
2003 TS book. it will shed some light on many of these. it is not a
simple, quick answer on how to deploy applications through terminal
services. It may seem straight forward but it is not. If this is your
first time deploying TS and you are unfamiliar with it, bringing someone
in to help can put you lightyears ahead and help you avoid common mistakes.

You will need 35 TS CAL's and 35 Windows Server CALS. Pricing will vary
depending on your licensing agreements and vendor.

Re: Terminal Server Client Access Licensing(CALs)

Thanks Jeff.

We don't have any volume licensing for our servers(server 2003) as we are a
small orgnization.I think if we have to go for 2 TS CAL's and 2 Windows
Server CALS how much it comes roughly for an open licensing.

rougly...just to get an idea..

I really appreciate your time.

Re: Terminal Server Client Access Licensing(CALs)

Like you, we don't have enough volume to get volume discounts. Last month I
purchased some TS CAL's for around $78 each and $29 for Windows CAL's.

Re: Terminal Server Client Access Licensing(CALs)

2 TS CALs won't be enough. You need at least one for each user or
device connecting.
