Re: problem running chkdsk under Vista

Just opened Windows mail and got message on the bottom of the screen
that there were problems on the disk and to run chkdsk. Tried to run
from the command prompt after executing CMD. System came back with
the message I did not have sufficient privileges, " Access denied as
you do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this
utility running in elevated mode".

Please post solution to this execution problem.

TIA

You need to run chkdsk as administrator. Open the command prompt by
right-clicking the shortcut in Start Menu > Acessories. Select the Run
as administrator option.

Re: problem running chkdsk under Vista

When you go to Start->CMD->right-click on command prompt and select Run As
Administrator. This will "elevate your privileges". You can also run chkdsk
by right-clicking on your OS drive, select Properties, then Tools tab, then
select Error Checking, Start, select options, schedule to run with computer
restart, then restart your computer. The scan and fix option takes 5-10
minutes, the restore bad sectors option may add another hour to complete
chkdsk. Details in following tutorial.

Re: problem running chkdsk under Vista

You can also just hold ctrl-shift and hit enter after typing cmd. quick way
to elevate a prompt.
