Why does Visual Studio Community 2015 take SO long to install/uninstall?

So I installed Visual Studio Community 2015 last week, and it took about an hour and a half.

I then added C++ to it by going to add/remove programs then modified the install, that took over an hour.

I then tried to add the Windows Phone 10 emulator to it, but accidentally hit uninstall or something else, at which point I cancelled it after a few seconds, then it said it was reversing what it had just done, 10 minutes later it was still doing it!

So I restarted the computer and I now have two installs of VS2015, both slightly different sizes to each other. So I decided to uninstall it, 45 minutes later the progress bar is only 10% done, it still says Acquiring and Configuring your system. If I were to try and cancel this now it will take ages to finish, if ever.

What is it about VS that takes sooooooo long to do anything? I don't have this trouble with any other program, it's always VS taking an age to do anything. Sometimes other MS programs are bad but nothing anywhere near as bad as this.

I wonder if this will be finished by time I get home from work?

Also I have it installing to an SSD on Windows 10. I've still got ample memory and CPU left so it's not my system going slow.

What is going on with these programs?

Thanks in advance.
