After updating W10 to 1709 (16299) (note that I did not update to 1803; this is to prevent issues and also I don't want to target a W10 version that lots of users will, and can, postpone for a year to come), I was downloading the 1709 SDK.
Unfortunately (but not to my surprise) installation of both failed.
1 SDK installation is, regardless the version via winsdksetup.exe. In the titlebar it says it is installing SDK 10.0.14393.795. Why? I want 17134. How can I prevent 143936 to install?
2 After quite a while, regardless which components I checked, it fails with Unable to verify the integrity of downloaded content. It might be corrupted. I've read and tried most solution (like downloading it in the region Japan!) without success.
3 EmulatorSetup.exe ends with Setup has detected that KB 3118401 is not installed. First of all, my system was freshly updated with everything after my 1709 update. Second, the KB 3118401 link points to:
Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows - Applies to: Windows Server 2012 R2 DatacenterWindows Server 2012 R2 StandardWindows Server 2012 R2 Essentials
What on earth does this KB error have to do with W10 1709?
As a personal note: It's really frustrating that even a simple installation of an SDK and emulator again will take hours of troubleshooting. Microsoft tries to convince developers to develop for W10. But no single software provider gives trouble even remotely comparable of what I get when trying to install Microsoft software.
Hopefully someone knows how to solve this.
