Hello everyone,
I know with Visual Studio 2017 being so new, i'm not sure if others are having this problem or if enough just haven't tried yet. When I install VS2017 Community it installs fine with no errors, but as soon as I run it, I get bombarded with loads of
The '[PackageNameHere]' package did not load correctly.
The problem may have been caused by a configuration change or but the installation of another extension. You can get more information by examing the files '...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0_982b308b\ActivityLog.xml'.
Restarting Visual Studio could help resolve this issue.
Now no matter how many times I restart, re-install, repair, anything it doesn't work. I spent 3 hours with Microsoft Tech Support on visual studio installations and the only thing they could tell me is that in the install logs its generating an internal error on writing a folder.
They had me try using InstallCleanup.exe -full, an offline installation of VS2017, but no matter what I get the errors. Cant report a problem within the IDE because clicking on any button generates exception errors due to missing packages, so they referred me to post my question here.
This is trying to be installed on a top end Surface Pro 4, fresh wipe and re-install with all updates applied and no other version of visual studio installed on it. If anyone has seen this or knows how to correct this, please let me know. I'd really like to continue my projects with VS2017 to continue my hobby learning.
