WM_PARENTNOTIFY doesn't send message for window destruction

My code is below. I do receive the messagebox when the edit control is being created but I don't receive anything when I close the main window. The docs says these messages should be also received by the parent window when the child window is being destroyed. Can anyone explain to me why it doesn't work? Thank you!
