Installing new TFS 2018 and migrating TFS 2017 database from a different server.

We currently have an server running TFS 2017 and are building a new one with TFS 2018. We have a separate SQL server that houses the 2017 collections and configuration databases. We also have a new SQL server just for the 2018 setup. Can we restore from the most recent backup to the new SQL server. Then after installing the TFW 2018 software, just connect them to the new SQL server?
