My programming experience is extremely varied, starting with Fortran, various basic languages (Commodore Pet, Apple II, Quick Basic, VB$-6, Perl, DBase, Clipper, Python, Java, Forth, Javascript, Visual Basic .NET and C# (I may have missed one or two!)
I enjoy programming very much, it allows me to build things that are useful.
Of the many languages I found Forth the most challenging and I still think it a very interesting language.
Recently I have found building a GUI the most frustrating experience as I seem to spend 80% of my coding time on the interface and 20% actually achieving something.
My most recent application was written in Python using tkinter as a GUI (I have also used QT and WxPython), but I have decided to return to WinForms and Visual Basic - that way I can create a GUI (not perhaps the best, but workable) and get on with solving problems. (I don't need my applications to work on a cellphone or tabled - no 'responsiveness needed)
I was pleased to see Microsoft have provided upgrades recently for WinForms, (I found WPF too similar to HTML and CSS!) I hope this continues.
