Each time I empty the Recycle Bin, I get the error message:

'Error Deleting File': "Cannot delete J+lijs_cl: Cannot find the specified
file. Make sure you specify the correct path and filename."

The Recycle is emptied normally, just this error message irritates. Several
years ago, the PC has been infected with virus, so these is consequence of
the virus removal procedure. Where the error is located?

Regards,
S.

Try this, it may or man not work.
Boot to Dos. Not a dos window, but all the way to dos.
In SHUTDOWN, select BOOT TO DOS (not exact wording).
Once in Dos, type

RD C:\RECYCLED

If it says you cant remove it because it contains a file, do this:

Type
DELTREE C:\RECYCLED
Hit the ENTER KEY.

This will remove the recycled folder.
Dont worry, as soon as you start windows, a new one will be created.

Reboot to DOS =>
- Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows 98 Startup menu
(boot menu) appears.
OR
- Repeatedly tap the F8 key after the memory count to bring up the boot menu.
- Use the arrow keys to select "Command Prompt Only" and press Enter.

At the C:\ prompt type the following and press Enter after each line:

smartdrv
deltree c:\recycled

When it is done, if you have any other hard drive partitions besides C:, you need to
switch to them and delete their Recycled folders also. If you only have C:, you are
done.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart.

Back in Windows, create a blank text file on the desktop, then delete it to the Bin,
then right-click the Bin and click Empty Recycle Bin.

Re: 'Error Deleting File' when empty Recycle

Is the file still in the recycle bin? If it is, restore it to its original
location, rename it so there isn't an illegal character in it, then
highlight the file and "shift-delete" it (which bypasses the recycle bin).
