I need a review. I searched the boards and tried the troubleshots used on the
boards. What the issue is that nothing seems to hold on reboot.

Here's the registry (a partial -- hopefully the (HKLM & HKCU)\ ...
\CurrentVersion\Run are the important ones. Log file courtesy of Doug Knox's

What I figure now that I need to do is put in "" is the Dell quickset.exe
found in HKLM.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Dell QuickSet C:\Program Files\Dell\Quickset\quickset.exe

Problem: It will *not* stay in quotations. I reboot, or log off and it will
reappear without the quotes and the folder will pop up on the desktop. I even
close out and check to make sure (refreshing the Tracker3) to see if it's
there before I restart. I went so far as to delete this registry key and
reenter it, but that didn't take hold. I used Malke's advised website
(Ramesh) solution ... the other part,
HKCU\ ... \Run DellSupport "C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe"
/startup
was properly formatted and did not need editing.

Suggestions?

Re: C:\Program File\Dell folder at Startup ... need eval.

Why are you editing the Registry in the first place?

One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party
applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include
but are not limited to Ad-aware Pro's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer,
SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee
VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro).

I'd also uninstall both WinCleaner Memory Optimizer and FreeRAM XP Pro
before attempting to do whatever it is you're doing.

Re: C:\Program File\Dell folder at Startup ... need eval.

Nemo,

You have a lot of unnecessary junk loading on startup

Delete entries like Adobe, Real Scheduler, Free Memory& Java Updater

Do you like MSN Messenger loading on startup? If not, open MSN | TOOLS | OPTIONS | GENERAL
tab & remove the top check mark to stop it running when Windows (system) starts. You
cannot just delete the RUN key as when MSN closes it adds the run key unless removed like
I just described

Why are you using these dreadful firewall & free virus software? From version 7 on AVG
comes with it's own adware BHO. Do yourself a favour & delete it
