Text display issues with moving from visual C++ 6.0 to Unicode version of Visual C++ 2013

[Visual studio latest compatible version for VS 6.0]

Help

My dropdown combo boxes are displaying garbled Chinese like text. But when I select an item the English text is displayed! Not sure why the internal text is OK but the display text is garbled! Any advise will be greatly appreciated!
