I have a crazy situation that is affecting ALL projects in my Visual Studio 2109, 2017 and 2012 development environments.
Every control (labels, text boxes, command buttons ... everything) now appears in the lower design window. I don't know the actual name of this part of the design environment so the only way to illustrate is with a screenshot.
Short of reinstalling Windows 10 (a daunting prospect that will take DAYS to recover all of my development environment) I need a little direction.
Here is what I've tried thus far:
1. Installing VS 2017 ... problem persists
2. Opening up the exact same project on my backup development laptop ... the project behaves as one would expect.
This only occurred after MS suggested that I update my machine with the latest version of Windows 10 during a standard Windows Update cycle.
I am truly at my wits end. There is nothing left to try. The problem is not with the VS environments ... that much I know. What did that update do to corrupt VS? This just doesn't make sense. I'm ready to pay for a support ticket but I figured I'd give this a try first.
