I have a server here that we want to enforce only ONE active desktop at a
time. Right now there are people remote desktoping into the system and
leaving desktops open. This is causing our system to crash (server acts as a
controller for a distributed system).

Is there a way to setup remote desktop to enforce ONLY ONE desktop at a
time. And force the desktop to be closed upon exit?

Thanks.

Re: Remote Desktop

The following may work for you:
goto Terminal Services Configuration (TSCC.msc), double click rdp-tcp,
goto network adapter tab, set maximum connections = 1.
goto sessions tab, check 'Override user settings', set "End a
disconnected session" to 1 minute.

Please keep in mind that there's a potential data lost, as the disconnected
session will be logoff without further warning.
Thanks
Soo Kuan

Re: Remote Desktop

Hey it worked like a charm. However, I'm not quite there yet. I can still
remote into the computer AND yet have an operator at the system running a
second desktop.

So my question is, how do I not just allow one remote desktop... but allow
only one active desktop at a time?

Thanks!

Re: Remote Desktop

I don't understand why you want to push that far but how about not allowing
physical access to the computer. Physical access by users other than admins
may not be a good idea anyway. Some options are:

Lock it up.

Take away the keyboard and mouse and monitor.

I think you can even prevent non-admins from logging in at the console via
policy.
