How to remove a solution from Source Control

I accidentally added my VS solution to Source Control.

Now, when I open the solution, I get many errors about "GIT" files.

I am the only developer working with this solution and no one else has access to the drive on which it is stored.

I don't think I need Source Control and I want to get rid of it.

How do I do that

The solution has dozens of projects and I do not want to rebuild them.
