Hi there , i've got a problem with Vista 64 bit , when i try to install it on
my pc , during the installation like half way through or something it gives
me a 'Crash and Dump" blue screen for some reason , i noticed that happening
when i added 2gb extra to my memory , i had 2 gb now i have 4 gb or DDR2 PC
6400 800MHZ , but when that happened i thought it might be from the new Rams
that i bought "mind you they are exactly the same , identical !!" so i took
the old 2 off and i kept the 2 new sticks in , and i tried to reinstall Vista
, and it installed perfectly no hassle at all ... so the new Rams that i got
are good and nothing wrong with them , so what i'm guessing the problem is
that Vista 64 bit is not liking the idea of 4GB of Ram !!! so is there
anybody that have been through this before , or anyone suggest anything ??
i have Asus Crosshair motherboard and AMD x2 5200+ CPU , and i just flashed
my bios to the latest version that Asus has, but that didn't help ! so please
if you have any suggestions i would appreciate you telling me about them ...
sorry for the long explanation
and thanks everyone
Maz

Re: Blue screen while installing Vista 64 bit

Hi, Maz.

I'm not Carlos, but did you read the second line under "Workaround" of that
KB article 929777?

"Remove 2 GB of RAM, and then restart the installation process. After
Windows Vista is installed, reinstall the RAM."

Re: Blue screen while installing Vista 64 bit

Hi Maz,
I referred you to the MS KB on account of the workaround, which you seem to
have understood and applied.
I have not yet figured out the use of the hotfixes mentioned there (still
runnin' on 2 gigs of mem down here).

Re: Blue screen while installing Vista 64 bit

You'd have to build a streamlined Vista install image that included the
updated files. More pain than most would want to deal with, but well worth
it if you're deploying to many workstations. The new Windows Deployment
Services makes it somewhat easier to create a custom WIM image and deploy
it. But for a single install? Pull the RAM, install, shutdown, re-insert the
RAM, and continue on about your business.
