Hi,

Windows 10 64-bit

Dell Laptop, 16GB RAM, i7-8650U

I had a default instance of VS 2019 Community Edition installed on my PC when I realised I needed the BizTalk Project Templates to create & validate XSD Schema files for BizTalk. These templates didn't seem to be available from the standard installation.

I found an article on the web (How to install BizTalk Project Templates on Visual Studio 2019) which suggested installing the BizTalk extensions. So I installed the BizTalk server extension and the ESB Toolkit Itinerary Designer and tried to create a BizTalk project.

Firstly, trying to create an empty BizTalk project caused an error which stated package components were not installed correctly.

When I tried the BizTalk server application, it created the solution & project; however, when I went in to add a new item, there were no items displayed (no schema items, no xml or xsd items to select). I tried a full re-install to fix the issue but still no luck.

I tried to import an existing XSD file into the project. The file imported but when I tried to open it, another error regarding the XML editor package came up.

Is there a known issue with VS 2019 & BizTalk Project Templates??

Is there an add-on or extension that I need to install to get this to work? (in previous versions of VS (i.e. 2015) the BizTalk project template options, along with the schema files, seemed to work fine)

Additional note: I even tried a fresh install on a colleague's PC and the same issues occurred.

Regards,

Shuja
