I use this feature extensively. I run control-shift-f to open the Find and Replace dialog. I go to the "Look in" field and click the "..." next to it. I add a name that I want to use. I populate all the folders I want in that and then I hit apply. From then on I can quickly type in the look in field and get my search folders searched. I almost always add a "mfc" folder and add the VC folders there so MFC and the various system include files can be quickly searched.
No I have also installed Visual Studio 2019. I think that is causing me headaches. I am constantly loosing the folders, but not the name. So, I type "m" and "mfc" pops into the field, I click Find All and … I am told I have no files to look in. If I go to the Look in … button and bring up mfc, sure enough, the right side that shows all the folders is empty. I have to add them again. I have a number of named search "Look in" entries and they all keep getting lost. I have made sure I have no other VS running (since I tend to have a number of copies opened with different projects loaded) and reset all my data multiple times. Still, like today, they all get lost.
Is VS 2019 interfering with VS 2017 or what is going on here? I have used this for years with no issue, including having multiple versions of VS running.
2017 is Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2017. Version 15.9.14
2019 is Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2019 Version 16.0.5
