CMFCPropertyGridCtrl repaint problem

I have a repeatable problem happening with my CMFCPropertyGridCtrl. As seen below, there seems to be a repaint problem as a black bar appears at the bottom of the control. This happens when I:

1. Scroll down to the bottom element

2. Select another item in the left listbox control, which causes the CMFCPropertyGridCtrl control to be repopulated. At this point, the black bar appears at the bottom.

The first step seems to be critical, in that if the CMFCPropertyGridCtrl is not scrolled all the way down then the bar doesn't appear.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?
