ComboBox Erratic Behavior

I have the delight of having a ComboBox control in my applications that "changes on its own". The picture below shows the "normal appearance" of the ComboBox elements :



I do a zillion of tests as you can see. Now, there are instances, freshly after the contents of the ComboBox changed, as a consequence of a Deletion, the font size changes drastically on its own (seemingly):



There must a logical reason...
