Listbox/Listview - How to show list of different file types

I need to show a list of "Content" where content could be an image, text file, Word doc, video (for a video we would probably show some static image, and when clicked on, the video would run), etc.

How could this be done? Currently I'm working in WPF to prototype this and later may move to another platform.
