Mechanism to run a exe depending upon build result

Hi All,

I have a requirement where I need to monitor (check) for 9 build definition results. If any of the build definition succeeds or fails, I want to run another exe. If the build definition is still running, then I want to wait till I get results. So what is the best mechanism to achieve this functionality ? If I wait for long time, the exe will get time out (I believe) which should not happen.
