File Sharing

I see many threads that have to do with "File Sharing". I am running XP/SP2
and Vista Home Premium in a "dual Boot" situation. I am also on the internet
with the computer using a wireless router. I have had no probl;ems with
transfering any files from one hard drive to another. And File Sharing is
"ON".

However, I don't know how to turn File Sharing OFF. and If I did, would I
still be able to transfer files from one hard drive to another (Each OS is on
a separate HD).

After reading about File Sharing, it explains that with it on, other on the
same network can see all the folders and files. I'm not sure I would want
that. So what's the best configuration just for me and no one else ??

Removing Client for MS networks and MS File and Print Sharing off of the
Network Interface Card or the dial-up connection, and the computer will not
be able to network with other computers period. Or if you have a personal
firewall/packet filter on the computer , then you block all inbound and
outbound traffic on TCP ports 137-139 and UDP port 445 and the computer with
the MS O/S will not be able to network period.
