Hi all,

I need to find a way to force RDP users to use the server time as apposed to
the time on their local machine. I have set the GP object that dissalow's
users for redirecting thier local regional settings.. but am still having
issues.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..

Re: Force user to use server time

You mean that you have configured:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components
\Terminal Services\Client/Server data redirection
"Allow Time Zone Redirection" = disabled?

This should work, and is also the default behaviour.
Have you run gpupdate on the TS after changing the GPO?

Re: Force user to use server time

Hi Vera,

Yes i have configured that to disables - which as far as i could see should
force the user to use the server time. I configured it months ago and have
rebooted the server several times since then - but i can run gpupdate if you
think i need to?

thanks for your help
Simone :)

Re: Force user to use server time

No, then gpupdate isn't necessary.
This sounds strange. Just to avoid any misunderstandings, we are
talking about the time *inside* the TS sessions, correct? Not the
local time on the workstations?
How much is the time offset? Is it consistent with the time zones
the clients are in?

Re: Force user to use server time

Hi again Vera,

Yes the time inside the ts sessions. The issue is a shared application where
some of the users have their local machines using daylight savings time..
while others in another state aren't.

I want the server to ignore their machine times and just use the server time
for all user sessions.

:) Simon

Re: Force user to use server time

The only thing that I can think of is that your GPO isn't applied as
you expect it.
Have you run Resultant Set of Policies (RSoP) to see all GPOs that
apply?
If that doesn't show anything wrong, I'm out of ideas.
