I had a checkdisk complain about glmf32.dll, claiming to repair it.
The PC wouldn't boot after that, though I got it to work using "the
last good setting" options. The glmf32.dll I have is 5.2.3790.1830,
size 790kB (809472). Can anyone verify if this is right?

Re: glmf32.dll on x64

Hi, Miso.

I never heard of glmf32, but Google has nearly 1,000 hits. Maybe some of
those can help you.

:>( On second look, some of those are just your own question being echoed
back from "forums" that simply "slurped" your post from here.

On at least one of them, the version offered for download today is
5.1.2600.0, which might be older than the version you already have.

Yeah, I did a google search before posting, but only found the size of
the older file. Someone with x64 would have to verify the size.

I'm eventually going to add more drives to this beast (fill out the
other raid port), then either do a fresh install of X64, or go vista.
This present x64 installation has lead a hard life, being "repaired" a
few times. If you have seen my previous posts, I have this issue with
photoshop on x64 that nobody else seems to have. Sometimes it works,
sometimes it never starts up. I have probably sent a 100 of these
error reports to microsquish, which must get scrapped. I have the same
issue with open office, but at least I can run that on my linux
machine. There really is no good alternate to photoshop, either on
windows or linux. I run gimp when photoshop acts up, but much of gimp
is only 8 bits per color. Well, enough of my cyber sob story... ;-) I
assume a fresh install will clear up the problem.

Hi, Miso.

Heck, I still don't know what glmf32 does - or is supposed to do.

No, I don't recall your other posts. But, then, I'm an accountant (and
retired), not involved in Photoshop or other high-end graphics, so I
probably would have skipped over any posts on such subjects.

I do run Photoshop Elements, just for family photos. I started with PSE2 on
WinXP Pro and have worked my way up to PSE6 on Vista Ultimate x64. During
the Vista beta, I was running PSE4 and had lots of grief trying to install
and run that on the betas. Finally, just in time for Vista RTM, PSE4 began
behaving for me and it ran well on the final Vista x64. I bought PSE6 just
last month. Its new, darker UI leaves me wishing for PSE4's brighter look
and feel, but I've had no problems installing and running it on Vista
Ultimate x64. I've pretty much left WinXP behind, so I haven't tried PSE on
either the x86 or x64 version of WinXP in over a year. I have Vista
Ultimate x86 installed as a dual-boot, but seldom run it.

In case it helps, I do have glmf32.dll, 457,728 bytes, dated 11/02/2006 in
my Vista x64's Windows\system32, but I don't know what it does. The version
in my WinXP x64 volume is 809,472 bytes, dated 3/25/2005.

Verifying the byte count helps. Thanks. I put a copy of PE2 on the PC
just for yucks and it bombed the same way. Other claim there is no
issue with x64, so I'll start with a fresh install. I do believe there
is some issue regarding calling Microsquish to do the second install
since thing would apear as if I am installing the software on a second
machine.

I'm enjoying Suse linux more and more. At least they don't treat me
like a criminal.
