is there an alternate login screen to Windows 2000 that can be used
rather than having the user press CTRL+ALT+DEL all the time?
(Similiar to the Welcome Screen introduced in XP that lists only the
users on the system)

No, not natively.

In this instance Pegasus is correct. Having worked in W2K Pro since
its release in South Africa, the only way to set up the OS without the
need for Ctrl+Alt+Del is to choose this on installation of the OS. If
you want this feature, back up everything on every machine except the
OS, reformat the HDDs and reinstall. Good luck! It's a nice 6 day job!
I know, I have rebuilt my machine at least 6 times.

Glad to see you agreeing that I'm correct in this instance. However,
I don't quite agree with you. The OP asked "Is there an alternate
login screen to Windows 2000 that can be used rather than having
the user press Ctrl+Alt+Del". You then changed the question around
a bit by suggesting that there is no way to enter the OS without
pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. There is, of course: Control Panel / Users /
remove the tick that requires users to enter a password. From now
on the selected user will be able to boot up the machine and get into
Windows without pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and without entering a
password.

However, when he logs off he will still see the usual Ctrl+Alt+Del
logon screen. This part is fixed, as you said.

Re: changing the login screen to win2k ?

You can also use TweakUI to setup auto logon. You din't have to reinstall.
But this is not what the OP is seeking.
