Hello,
I have a problem with access to SAN drives after applying SP2 to Windows
2003 Enterprise. The HBA is an Emulex LP982 with a storport driver. After
applying SP2 the server lost access to 3 out of the 4 disk drives assigned to
it. Further tests revealed that LUNs translated to 7 or lower are still
accessible, and only 8 and higher are no longer accessible. I am prettry sure
the problem lies with the storport.sys Microsoft driver, as I tried to copy
the older version (I know - not a good practice - only for troubleshooting
purposes) of the file over the SP2 (and hotfix - see below) version and
everything was back to normal.
Moreover, I found there was a very recent hotfix (31 Oct) that described a
problem that sounds similar - and I got and installed it, but still no
improvment.
The hotfix description is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943545/en-us.
Thank you in advance,
