Much that I dislike Vista their recommendation "should run without
problems if you disable the "User Account Control" (UAC) function which
limits your access to your files, and if you run as "Administrator"
(without restricted permission)." smacks of total ignorance. UAC
certainly does not restrict access to "your files" although it does
restrict access to actions requiring a permission higher than the current
user. Disabling UAC as recommended whilst solving one problem is going to
cause a cascade of other problems for the user regardless of their
privileges.
Nevertheless I agree that their statement "In fact, much of the JSWare
freeware has been specifically designed not to run on Windows Vista at
all, in order to avoid unnecessary confusion for people using Windows
Vista, and also to avoid unnecessary support queries at JSWare." has much
to commend it.
