Then use it where it works...
it must not be compatable with the computer's motherboard

Re: Memory Stick Not Working

thanks great help

It worked previously before I used on my own computer so it must be compatible

Re: Memory Stick Not Working

Relating an experience that may have bearing on XP.

I own a Cruzer 1GB flashdrive/memory stick/thumb drive or whatever verbage
you choose to call it.

My PC runs Millenium/XP Home using a 3rd party boot manager. No drivers
were required to use the Cruzer. Initially I tried using the encryption
software that comes with the Cruzer while in ME OS. Then wiped the Cruzer
in XP, and formatted it. Worked fine in XP. ME could see the Cruzer, but
could not access it however. So, I formatted the Cruzer in ME. Now, works
fine in both OSes. This of course occurred on the same PC.

After the above occurred, use it on another much older PC (98 vintage)
running ME, and a notebook with XP HE as well.

Re: Memory Stick Not Working

You haven't provided much information about the problem.

What is the device (is it a USB memory stick or SD, CF card etc). Has it
worked before on your parent' computer? If so, what changed at about the
time it stopped working for W98? Does the device have drivers for Windows
98? Have you re-installed the drivers for the device and did the
installation go OK or were there errors? Does W98 see the device and
install a drive letter, or is the problem that the system does not notice
that the memory stick has been installed? If it's USB, are you connecting
it directly into the PC slot or through a hub, such as a keyboard? Do other
USB devices still work OK? If it sees the device then is the problem that
you can't access it for some reason, or is it that when you try to move or
copy files there is an error of some sort (is there a message?) or is it
that files saved to the device become corrupted or disappear? Is the device
useable if you connect it before booting Windows?

You did not say that in your original post...

Then it may be a problem with the RAM's timing setting in the bios

Re: Memory Stick Not Working

Hi ,
I can't find a driver from the memory sticks manufacturer. It would be great
if you could find me a generic one that works?

thanks

Re: Memory Stick Not Working

If it is W98, you might be out of luck. If it is W98SE, then there may be a
driver available from the maker of the memory stick. Check the web site and
if you cannot find anything, post back and we will try to find a generic
driver that will work.
