Hi,
I have a pc ME that stops to get a password every time it boots.
I want it to boot to the desktop, but so far I have not been able to
do so. I switch the network thing to windows login, and I also
searched for a pwl file to delete, but there was no pwl file on the
PC.
The PC runs fine, it just always stops for a password, and there
isn't any password.
Any ideas much appreicated.
Mike

PS: I searched around via google and microsoft's web site
but couldn't find out how to do this.

Re: how boot to desktop?

Rather than cancelling when Win Me asks for a password enter nothing in
the box and then click Return. This should now stop you being asked for a
password each time you boot the system.

By "enter nothing" I meant leave the password box blank and just click
Return. This will then set the system up as requiring no password, or
rather the password as null.

Re: how boot to desktop?

Clear the password then next time don't enter one. Never hit cancel or X
out as you are then not logged in properly and many settings won't
"stick".
