All,
I have a user who uses a Brother MFC-8500 printer. I tried to install the
appropriate drivers on the Terminal Server under Printer and Faxes / File /
Server Properties / drivers. I follow the instructions and point (browse) to
the correct subdirectory. When I click on the OPEN button, nothing, no
printers, appear in the dialog box. Is this because the printer is a "plug
and play" printer and needs to physically be connected to the server? or am
I doing something wrong? Can I redirect to a Brother MFC-8500
(multi-functional device)?

Thank you,
Thomas Kroljic

RE: Adding Print driver to server

Multifunction devices are not really supported in a TS environment. Probably
the driver is not only a printer driver. Maybe try an HP laserjet driver on
the client and also on the server. Just printing has to work in this case.
The printer has not to be connected. It just needs exactly the same driver on
the server as on the client.

Re: Adding Print driver to server

Bart,
Thanks for the reply. Are you saying that I should try using a HP laserjet
driver on the client and server? Have you done this? What HP driver would
you recommend to use?
Thanks
Thomas

Re: Adding Print driver to server

Indeed. Try using the standard HP Laserjet driver.
