Hi,

When I want to print something from IE or even a program the printer box
will display all the printers available as icons. The present reolution is
800 x 600 so the box has to be moved to click on the apply button. I would
prefer to have the samller printer box pop up which has the drop down menu
istead of all the icons.

Can somebody tell me where that configuration is for me to make the change?

Thanks
Steve

Re: Printer Box

Very strange. I'm running a 15" monitor with a default resolution of 800 x 600
and the Print dialog window is well within the screen's borders. It sounds more
like a problem in a 640 x 480 resolution.

Are you, by chance, using any of the Accessibility features that may be
magnifying screen images?

If you have a default printer assigned, there should be no need to click on the
Apply button. Simply press the Enter key to select the default printer.

If you need a utility that can easily change the screen's resolution, look for

Re: Printer Box

Hi David,

You may be right but after I thought about it my client may be using a 640
by 480 resolution but I doubt she is using any accessability features. ( I
can check on that). But, I have seen that on some configurations the
printer box will come up displaying all the printer icons and then there's
been times that I've seen a printer box come up with a drop down menu. Is
there a configuration either in IE or maybe somewhere within Windows that
allows the different configs? Since I've seen this many times there's got to
be a reason. anyone know?

thanks
steve

Re: Printer Box

The printer dialog window that you're referring to is not universal to all
applications. It's more common in IE and OE apps. Sometimes it's bypassed when
the user clicks on the printer icon in the toolbar.

Many other apps offer completely different printer dialog windows. Try printing
from Word, Excel, or 3rd party apps like IrfanView, to see the difference.

I don't know of any way to change this behavior.
